What is enterprise mentoring?
Mentoring is a development capability within the Virkware AI-powered Internal Talent Marketplace. It helps employees form fixed-duration, one-to-one relationships with colleagues who can share guidance, experience and perspective.
The engagement does not require formal deliverables or milestones, although the mentor and mentee may agree their own objectives after it begins.
Relevant guidance should not depend on who an employee already knows
Bring mentoring into a broader marketplace experience while retaining programme criteria and HR oversight.
Eligible employees can nominate themselves as mentors, subject to the organisation’s programme criteria.
HR identifies or nominates the mentors who participate when closer governance is needed.
Offer mentoring to a defined group, such as participants in a Future Leaders programme.
From a directory of mentors to a relevant connection
A long list of mentors does not tell an employee who could support the direction they want to pursue. Virkware uses AI/ML to recommend connections based largely on relevant skills and aspirations.
A meaningful match is the beginning, not the end
Give mentor and mentee enough structure to sustain participation while respecting the personal nature of the relationship.
Initiate and accept a fixed-duration engagement.
Schedule calendar sessions.
Retain private personal notes.
Close the engagement thoughtfully.
Capture anonymous programme feedback.
A role for every participant
Share aspirations, discover relevant mentors, initiate a request, schedule sessions after acceptance and retain private notes.
Review requests, participate through the relevant programme, schedule sessions and provide end-of-engagement feedback.
Define programme models and eligibility, oversee participation and review aggregate feedback.
Value for people and the organisation
Employees can find guidance across functions and locations, connect development with aspirations and learn at an individual pace.
For HR and the organisation: extend mentoring across organisational boundaries, run open and curated programmes, support knowledge transfer and understand participation at programme level.
Where it matters: organisation-wide reskilling, leadership development, post-merger integration, inclusion and stronger internal networks.
